Technology Lunch Session: Deep Impact! Maximizing your Research Impact 9/27/2016

Join the Norris Medical Library on Sept 27th for the Tech Lunch Series session Deep Impact! Maximizing your Research Impact.

We like to think that the research cycle typically ends with dissemination of your findings, but what about tracking and sharing the impact of your research? How can you make sure your work and your identity don’t disappear in the deep web? Grab some free pizza and bottled water and learn about online tools that will help you generate citation counts, track altmetrics, and carve out an individual online presence through unique identifiers and author profiles. Join us on this meta-journey on Tuesday, September 27th from 12pm-1pm in the Norris Medical Library West Conference Room. No RSVP required—just come by!

What is the Tech Lunch Series? These hour-long, lunchtime sessions are offered in-person at the Norris Library every month during the academic year. Join us to enjoy free pizza and learn about a new technology that you can use in academic or clinical work. The 2016-2017 series will focus on Scholarly Communication topics such as: tracking the impact of your research; Open Access publishing; data management; creating effective posters; copyright; and more!

Technology Lunch Session: Data Visualization Tools, 10/15 Noon – 1:00 p.m.

Raw data is important, but data visualization will help you quickly communicate information to any audience! On Thursday, October 15 from 12:00-1:00 at East Conference Room, NML Librarians will help you:

  • Identify types of data visualizations and use them effectively
  • Create data illustrations for posters, presentations, and websites
  • Employ graphic design techniques

Come to the library and turn your data from tedious to tremendous! Pizza and bottled water will be served!
